Study Critical of Airport Proposal Submitted to Fiscal Court

On 20 May, opponents of the proposed airport submitted to Fiscal Court a formal analysis of the project. GRA, Incorporated, a consulting firm specializing in transportation issues, performed the analysis. This firm had earlier been employed in the 2005 fight to stop construction of a Shelby County airport. The Spencer County study reviews the economic realities of the proposed airport: competitiveness with existing Kentucky airports, recurring operational expenses, eligibility for FAA funding, etc. It also discusses the reasonableness of ENTRAN’s estimates of the number of based aircraft the facility would attract.
